About Completing Lessons
___ ___ ___ ___ ___
- The lessons in the First Module are open to Public Preview. Students who watch them without logging in will need to revisit them after logging in. This is because your progress won't be recorded unless you are logged in.
- Once logged in, lessons must be completed in order. This is because each lesson builds upon the last and the order has been curated as the most effective way for students to successfully reach the course outcomes.
- It's not easy to cheat. Videos must be viewed to at least 80% completion before the next lesson will unlock.
- You can adjust video speed (and more). If you need directions, check out the Teachable Student Guide Directory (link below).
- Be sure to click "Complete and Continue" after each lesson. Note: Even if you don't click "Complete and Continue" the software may allow you to advance. When this happens, you'll have to go back and click "Complete" on all lessons to officially finish the course.
- Any Future Updates that I make to the lessons will impact your experience. (I will do my best to limit updates to those that are absolutely necessary.) If you find you are suddenly unable to advance to the next lesson, check to see if a previously completed lesson is no longer marked complete. It probably means you need to go back to visit the edited material.
"Help! I can't get to the next lesson!"
If you think you have completed a lesson, but the box to allow you to go to the next isn't highlighted, check these possible hiccups:
- Have you watched 80% or more of the lesson video? Tip: If you fast forward through too much, the algorithm might not count that toward your 80%.
- Are previous lessons no longer marked "Complete"? - This might happen if a previous lesson has been updated. Go back to that lesson, check out the updates, then come back to see if you can advance.
- Failing those two solutions, reach out directly using the contact details in your Welcome Email, or the Contact Form in your student profile. (See Lesson 1)
About Future Lesson Updates
___ ___ ___ ___ ___
This is worth reiterating.
- Any Future Updates I make to the lessons will impact your experience. (I will do my best not to make updates unless absolutely necessary.)
- If you find you are suddenly unable to advance through the lessons, check to see if a previously completed lesson is no longer marked complete. If that's the case, simply go back to that lesson and check out the updated material.
About the Learning Platform
___ ___ ___ ___ ___
The Life in Bold Institute is currently powered by Teachable.
The software (learning platform) we use as the online home of this workshop (course) is created by a company called Teachable.
I think of Teachable as a giant umbrella, and all the schools powered by Teachable are the individual people under the umbrella. Teachable claims over 100,000 creators share knowledge via Teachable, so there are a lot of people crammed under this umbrella!
It has some annoying quirks and issues (who doesn't?), but overall, it significantly increases my ability to share with you in a format that's easy to digest. I hope you agree, and if you have any issues, please let me know. I create these courses for you.
About Creating Your Student Account
___ ___ ___ ___ ___
Unfortunately, the log-in process for students can be confusing. This is because there are different types of accounts for slightly different purposes. Teachable does not do a very good job of making this clear when you set up your initial student account. (insert grumpy face).
Don't worry, all options will still give you access to the course. Depending upon how you set up your initial student account, you may need to take a few extra steps if you want to access additional features, though.
Here's an additional guide created by Teachable for Logging into Student Accounts.
When you enroll (or enrolled), you are typically give three options to create your log-in account. Options:
- Use or Create a Teachable Login. This will give you a central "Teachable" Hub/location to access your courses. (Did you read my umbrella analogy in About the Learning Platform above?) Your Teachable Hub will show your Life In Bold Institute (LIBI) courses, and also all other schools/courses you've connected to the Teachable Hub. NOTE: Teachable account may be required to access your courses using the Teachable app.
- Use or Create a student login account specific for Life In Bold Institute (LIBI). This will give you access to LIBI only and not automatically be connected to the overarching Teachable Platform Hub. The email and password you choose will be specific to the Life in Bold Institute. NOTE: You can connect your student account to a Teachable account inside your LIBI student profile, if you desire. (Article: Teachable Accounts - NOTE: You'll need to scroll down that page to find the section about connecting accounts)
- Use your Google Login. If you already have a Google account, this option makes your login experience easy. It will be the same email and password as your google account. It may not automatically be connected to the overarching Teachable Platform Hub.
NOTE: You can connect your student account to a Teachable account inside your LIBI student profile, if you desire. (Article: Teachable Accounts - You'll need to scroll down that page to find the section about connecting accounts.)
